Eloisa Coiro sets an Italian record at the Birmingham European Championships, running 1:57.56 and qualifying for the semifinals.

In the heats of the Athletics European Championships in Birmingham, Eloisa Coiro set a new Italian record in the 800 meters, finishing the race with a time of 1:57.56. This result surpasses the previous record held by Gabriella Dorio, which had stood for 46 years.

The 25-year-old from Rome was very emotional at the finish, bursting into tears of joy upon reaching this milestone. This performance qualifies her for the semifinals, which will take place on Thursday, the 13th.

In addition to Coiro, other Italian athletes also achieved good results: Gianmarco Tamberi reached the final in the high jump, while Sioli, Stronati, and Falocchi advanced in their respective events.

Ayomide Folorunso performed well in the 400 hurdles, contributing to the strong performance of the Italian team at the European Championships in Birmingham.
