European Athletics Championships: Jacobs injured in 100 meters final
The Olympic sprinter is forced to withdraw due to a muscle injury during the final.
During the 100 meters final at the European Athletics Championships, Marcell Jacobs withdrew after about 40 meters due to a muscle issue. The reigning European champion, who had won his heat in 10.08 seconds, experienced a strain in his adductors that prevented him from continuing the race.
Jacobs, clearly disappointed, stated that he would have preferred to suffer a more serious injury than to stop. He expressed his intention to get back to training as soon as possible to recover.
In other events, Gianmarco Tamberi cleared a height of 2.23 meters in the high jump, securing a spot in the final, while Ayomide Folorunso also advanced in the 400 hurdles. The high jump final will take place on the first birthday of Tamberi's daughter.
