Municipal phase of emergency plan declared due to wildfire in Wellin

Mayor Benoît Closson has declared the municipal phase of the emergency plan due to a large wildfire in Halma.

Benoît Closson, the mayor of Wellin, declared the municipal phase of the emergency plan on Wednesday due to a major wildfire that spread across fields in the district of Halma. Reports suggest that the situation is critical and the fire has already ravaged an area of approximately 40 hectares.

According to information from RTBF, at least one hundred firefighters have been mobilized to get the situation under control. The fire department is working with a significant team on-site, while the evacuation of animals is also underway. Additionally, two helicopters are expected to be deployed to assist in combating the blaze.
