EU increases pressure on Russia and pledges further aid to Ukraine
On Ukraine's National Day, the EU renewed its commitment to support the country and threatened Russia with new sanctions.

On Ukraine's National Day, the European Union reaffirmed its aid commitments to the country under attack by Russia. Council President António Costa stated that the EU would continue to provide comprehensive support to Ukraine as long as necessary.
Costa made these remarks during the celebrations in Kyiv, where he emphasized that over 220 billion euros had already been mobilized to assist Ukraine during the four and a half years of the war. This demonstrates the EU's determination to stand by Ukraine.
Additionally, Costa announced that pressure on Russia would be increased until the violence ends. In this context, he warned Russian President Vladimir Putin of new sanctions.

The EU's support for Ukraine is seen as crucial for stability in the region. Costa also highlighted the importance of EU membership for the security and long-term democratic stability of the country.
The EU has thus sent clear signals regarding its support for Ukraine and in confronting Russia to end the killing.
