European Commission accepts Temu's action plan to combat illegal products
Brussels has approved Chinese e-commerce platform Temu's action plan to comply with EU rules and tackle the sale of illegal products on its marketplace.

The European Commission has accepted an action plan submitted by Temu, a Chinese e-commerce platform, aimed at correcting breaches of EU rules and combating the availability of illegal products on the platform. The announcement was made by the European institution.
The plan represents Temu's response to a 200 million euro fine imposed by Brussels in May. The European Commission had identified shortcomings in compliance with the Digital Services Regulation (DSA).
The action plan includes five specific measures to combat the presence of illegal products on the platform. Brussels granted the company a four-month deadline to conduct an interim risk assessment and ensure effective implementation of the planned measures.

The Commission's acceptance of the plan represents recognition that Temu has presented a set of measures to address the issues identified during the investigation by EU authorities.
The Chinese platform welcomed Brussels' decision on the action plan, according to information released. The company has thus committed to meeting European legal requirements in the field of digital e-commerce.
The four-month deadline set by the European Commission will allow for an assessment of whether the measures proposed by Temu are being properly implemented in order to eliminate the sale of illegal products on the platform.
