Evacuations due to wildfires in Greece, Croatia, and Germany

In northern Greece, over 250 vacationers have been evacuated from the Chalkidiki peninsula by boat due to a wildfire. The situation in the area is critical, as the flames pose a threat to both residents and tourists. In Croatia, the fires also threaten several holiday resorts, necessitating evacuations.

In Germany, approximately 25 hectares of forest have been affected by wildfires near Hürtgenwald in North Rhine-Westphalia since Thursday afternoon. Here, a town with around 1,800 residents had to be evacuated due to the danger posed by the flames. These developments signal the serious consequences of the ongoing drought in the region.
