Excise cut on diesel reintroduced until November 7
A new decree reintroduces a discount of 4.9 cents on diesel, valid from today until November 7.

The government has announced the reintroduction of a measure to cut excise duties on diesel, effective today and lasting until November 7. The reduction amounts to 4.9 cents per liter and will be enforced through a joint decree from the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of Environment.
The decree has been published in the Official Gazette and is presented as a response to recent fluctuations in fuel prices. According to some sources, the price of diesel currently exceeds 2.30 euros per liter in several regions.
To finance the measure, the government will use approximately 38.7 million euros derived from the VAT surplus in September. This intervention has become necessary in a context where many families and businesses are facing high costs for fuel supplies.

In the coming days, it is expected to see how this measure will influence consumer prices. Some industry players, such as Eni and Q8, have already confirmed that they will continue to take steps to keep prices down until the end of the year.
The new excise cut comes after the suspension on October 5, when similar measures were halted. This reintroduction marks a step towards addressing the rising inflation in energy costs, which is particularly affecting the transportation sector.
From now on, citizens and businesses can benefit from this discount on diesel, which will be valid until the expiration date indicated in the decree. The relevant authorities will continue to monitor the effectiveness of this measure in the market.
