Exhibition honors Ivo Van Damme 50 years after his death
The exhibition dedicated to Ivo Van Damme commemorates the Belgian athlete who died in 1976.

On the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the Memorial, an exhibition is dedicated to Ivo Van Damme, the Belgian athlete and two-time medalist of the 1976 Montreal Olympics. Van Damme lost his life that same year in a car accident.
Wilfried Meert, the founder of the Memorial, spoke emotionally about the exhibition and indicated that he walks around with tears in his eyes. He wondered if any Belgian athlete has ever received such a comprehensive and intimate tribute as this one for Van Damme.
The exhibition not only looks back at Van Damme's career but also provides an opportunity to recognize his lasting impact on the sport in Belgium.
