The by-elections in Reggio Calabria concluded with the election of Fabio Roscioli, a candidate from Forza Italia, who received 51.02% of the votes. The seat became vacant after Francesco Cannizzaro resigned, having become the city's mayor last spring.

Voter turnout was significantly low, recorded at 22.34%. Four years ago, during a consultation held in a single day, turnout was at 49.40%.

Roscioli surpassed the center-left candidate, Frank Benedetto, who secured 36.59%. Another candidate, Domenico Giannetta from Futuro Nazionale, received about 11% of the votes, according to reports from ANSA.

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni commented on the electoral outcome, expressing satisfaction with the unity of the center-right and the victory over a broad opposition. In contrast, Domenico Giannetta stated that his party is experiencing growth despite the outcome.

In addition to Meloni's statements, Stefania Craxi, the Senate group leader for Forza Italia, emphasized the need for a united center-right, commenting on the results and future challenges. She also highlighted the difficulty of finding concrete solutions for citizens.

The elections involved several areas, but the focus remained on Reggio Calabria, where electoral interest has declined compared to the past. The new deputy, Roscioli, is the national treasurer of Forza Italia and a civil lawyer.
