Giorgia Meloni has today reached the milestone of 1,413 days as prime minister of Italy. This makes her the head of the longest-serving Italian government since the end of World War II.

She was sworn in on October 22, 2022, by President Mattarella as the first female prime minister of Italy. Her appointment was part of the most right-wing cabinet in Italian history since the war.

Meloni's party, Fratelli d'Italia, with roots in neo-fascism, garnered more than 26 percent of the vote, making it the largest party in the current coalition. The other parties in the government are Forza Italia and the Lega.

The political situation in Italy is known for its instability, making this long-term government remarkable. In 2022, few people in Europe predicted that Meloni would remain in power for so long.

Meloni herself stated in a declaration that she is "grateful" for achieving this record but does not view it as a personal merit. This underscores her desire to keep the focus on the government and its policymaking.

The balance of nearly four years under Meloni raises questions about the impact of her policies and the stability of her government in the future.
