Fachin requests lifting of confidentiality in Master case investigations at STF
Supreme Federal Court President Edson Fachin requested the lifting of confidentiality in the ongoing investigations of the Master case, addressed by Minister André Mendonça.

On Thursday (10), Supreme Federal Court (STF) President Edson Fachin requested the lifting of confidentiality on the ongoing investigations into the Master case. Fachin emphasized that information that would not harm future operations related to the case should remain confidential.
Minister André Mendonça, the case's rapporteur, granted Fachin's request and ordered the release of part of the investigations, which include inquiries and complaints related to Banco Master. Mendonça's dispatch was signed on Thursday evening.
According to reports, the decision to lift confidentiality had been previously agreed upon between Fachin and Mendonça, based on the assessment that the most relevant information was already publicly known. However, some proceedings will remain confidential, particularly regarding the more sensitive aspects of the case.

Although much of the documentation has been made public, as reported by various sources, confidentiality has not been lifted for all inquiries. This situation has led to criticism from other STF ministers, such as Alexandre de Moraes, who expressed dissatisfaction with how Mendonça managed the lifting of the confidentiality.
Moraes argued that Mendonça's decision was a "selective choice," suggesting that not all relevant aspects had been disclosed as requested by Fachin. This divergence among the STF ministers highlights internal tension regarding the transparency of the investigation.
The lifting of confidentiality in the Master case is a significant development, as it involves investigations that impact magistrates and other professionals within the Brazilian judicial system, drawing attention to the dynamics of accountability within the public sphere.
