On Tuesday (8), Supreme Federal Court (STF) Minister André Mendonça ordered the preventive dismissal of the General Director of the Federal Police, Andrei Rodrigues, as well as the Director of Police Intelligence, Leandro Almada da Costa. Furthermore, this decision entails the immediate opening of investigative procedures, both criminal and administrative-disciplinary, by the Federal Police's Internal Affairs, focusing on the production of intelligence reports monitoring authorities.

According to reports, the dismissal was prompted by concerns regarding the conduct of operations and reports within the corporation. Mendonça emphasized the need to investigate the circumstances that facilitated this production, which involved individuals in prominent positions.

Meanwhile, the Federal Police's Executive Director, William Murad, expressed confidence in Andrei Rodrigues, despite the STF's decision. In his statement, Murad assured support for Rodrigues, highlighting the importance of a careful analysis of the internal processes of the corporation.

Political reactions to Mendonça's decision were immediate. Figures such as Ronaldo Caiado (PSD), Renan Santos (Missão), and Romeu Zema (Novo) praised the dismissal, demonstrating significant backing for the removal of Rodrigues from office. This support suggests a connection between the minister's action and current political perceptions.

With the decision to dismiss Rodrigues and Almada, attention now shifts to the results of the investigations that will be conducted. These procedures are intended to clarify the true extent of the activities of the Federal Police's intelligence sector and whether there were abuses of power.

Mendonça's measure indicates a new chapter in the interaction between the top leadership of the Federal Police and authorities of the STF, reflecting the existing tension between these institutions.
