Feyenoord kicked off their Champions League season on Wednesday with a match against FC Barcelona at Camp Nou. The Rotterdammers faced the Spanish champions but were unable to cope with the opponent's quality. Barcelona convincingly won the match 5-1.

Anis Hadj Moussa returned to the starting lineup for Feyenoord after a tumultuous period regarding his potential transfer to Al-Ittihad. He had been excluded from the squad earlier this week but was able to rejoin the selection for the Champions League match.

Reiss Nelson was missing from the squad list, which meant that Hadj Moussa and Javi López had to start as first-choice players. Despite the absence of key players, expectations among Feyenoord supporters were high, especially after the news that Hadj Moussa had not left the club.

Barcelona opened the scoring early in the match with a goal from Raphinha in the third minute. The Spaniards continued to apply pressure and increased their lead throughout the first half.

Feyenoord occasionally offered attacking resistance, but the team's defensive organization was lacking, which allowed Barcelona many scoring opportunities. Ultimately, the match ended with a score of 5-1 in favor of the Catalans.

The defeat was a baptism of fire for the Rotterdammers in the Champions League, where the quality of the opponent became painfully evident. The team will need to regroup for their upcoming matches in the competition.
