The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved the procurement of additional linear accelerators aimed at enhancing cancer treatment across the nation. According to reports by Vanguard, a total of 35 new machines are set to be acquired as part of this initiative.

These linear accelerators are crucial in the field of radiotherapy, as they are designed to deliver high-energy radiation that destroys cancer cells while minimizing harm to healthy tissue. This technology is expected to significantly improve access to radiotherapy services for cancer patients in Nigeria.

The machines are scheduled to be procured between 2027 and 2029, with the aim of increasing the country's capacity to provide effective cancer treatment. This initiative follows ongoing efforts by the government to bolster healthcare services in the oncology sector.
