Fire at recycling company in Rotterdam under control, Maastunnel reopened
A fire in Rotterdam-Zuid resulted in the closure of the Maastunnel and NL-Alerts for residents.

On Friday evening, a fire broke out at a recycling company on Doklaan in Rotterdam-Zuid. The fire caused significant smoke development, affecting the surrounding area and causing unpleasant odors.
Due to the smoke, the Maastunnel was temporarily closed in both directions. Throughout the evening, the authorities issued two NL-Alerts advising residents to close their doors and windows.
The fire is now under control, according to the safety region. The Maastunnel was reopened to all traffic on Saturday morning.
