Major fire at recycling company in Rotterdam leads to smoke nuisance
A fire at a recycling company in Rotterdam-Zuid causes significant smoke development, leading to the closure of the Maastunnel and traffic diversions.
On Friday evening, a large fire broke out at a recycling company on Doklaan in Rotterdam-Zuid. Flames erupted from burning containers on the company's premises.
The smoke from the fire is detectable as far away as Heinenoord in Hoeksche Waard, causing substantial inconvenience for local residents. This has also resulted in traffic problems.
The Maastunnel was closed for several hours in both directions due to the smoke development. Traffic in the area is being diverted to safely manage the situation.
