The Gros Bessillon fire, which began on July 21 in the village of Pontevès in Var, is officially extinguished after a month of fighting. According to authorities, this blaze scorched a total of 6,300 hectares, making it one of the longest in the department's history.
The prefecture indicated that the fire caused significant damage, affecting several dozen homes and leading to the evacuation of 6,000 people during the rescue operations.
