A large forest fire in the Tignale region at Lake Garda is forcing both locals and tourists to flee. Reports indicate that more than 200 people have been evacuated. The area on the western shore of Italy's largest lake is currently frequented by several Baltic Sea vacationers, including many Germans.

Firefighters are battling the flames and are also using firefighting aircraft. The emergency services face the challenge of bringing the situation under control as a heatwave complicates the firefighting efforts. At present, the situation is tense, but a clear overview of the extent of the damage is not yet available.
