The Public Defender's Office of the Union (DPU) has requested the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) to implement measures ensuring free public collective transport during the 2026 elections. The DPU asked the Regional Electoral Tribunals (TREs) to monitor the execution of this measure and provide information on routes and schedules in each locality.

In Minas Gerais, intermunicipal public transport will be free on voting days. According to authorities, the free service will be available on the first round, scheduled for October 4, from 12 AM to 11:59 PM. The same benefit will apply to the second round, if it occurs, on October 25.

Paraíba has also adopted the measure, allowing free use of intermunicipal public transport during the elections. The decree regulating this initiative was published in the State Official Gazette, authorizing citizens to travel between municipalities to vote.

In Acre, the Regional Electoral Tribunal (TRE-AC) reported that four voters with disabilities or reduced mobility requested free transport for the elections. This action is part of the 'Your Vote Matters' program, created by the TSE to facilitate access for all to the electoral process.

In Greater Recife, residents will have the right to free transport on the day of the first round. The free service applies to both buses and the metro, valid from 4 AM to 7 PM. The same applies to the state of Rio de Janeiro, where free transport will be available across various means between 6 AM and 8 PM on voting days.

Additionally, cities like São Luís and Florianópolis will also ensure free public transport on election day, with extended hours to facilitate voters' movement. The capital of Pernambuco, Petrolina, is among the municipalities that will provide free transport for voters on voting days.
