German MP calls for climate support for Mozambique
Johannes Wagner visited Manhiça and requested international assistance for Mozambique in its fight against climate change.

Johannes Wagner, a member of the German parliament, visited the locality of Manhiça in Mozambique, where he called for the mobilization of the international community to support the country in combating climate change. Wagner emphasized the urgency of taking action as the climate situation in the country is worsening.
During his visit, the MP underscored that approximately 1.71 million Mozambicans will require urgent humanitarian assistance by 2026. This concern is further exacerbated as Mozambique faces food security challenges worsened by climate change.
Wagner pledged to convey the message about Mozambique's situation to his colleagues in the Bundestag. He stressed the need for collaborative efforts, with active participation from Germany and the international community in supporting the African nation.

Additionally, the MP insisted on the necessity of implementing programs aimed at strengthening food security in Mozambique. This issue becomes crucial as the country attempts to adapt to the impacts of climate change and ensure food for its population.
Wagner's visit to Manhiça was part of an initiative to raise awareness of the climate needs that Mozambique faces. The country has already suffered the devastating effects of extreme weather phenomena in recent years, which have intensified existing social and economic challenges.
Wagner's statements in Maputo reflect a growing recognition of the need for global support at a time when many countries, including Mozambique, struggle to address environmental and humanitarian crises. Mobilizing the international community is viewed as an essential step to help Mozambique make progress.
