The Portuguese Government has summoned the three trade union federations of the public administration for a meeting scheduled for next Tuesday, October 6. This meeting marks the start of the negotiation process regarding the general salary update for 2027, as indicated in a notice accessed by Lusa.

Currently, the base salary for the public administration is €934.99, which corresponds to the state minimum wage. The negotiations will focus on updating this remuneration in line with labor and economic expectations for the coming year.

The meeting comes at a critical time, as the deadline approaches for the submission of the State Budget proposal for 2027, which is essential for financing public policies and ensuring the financial stability of public services.

On the other hand, the discussion regarding remuneration is not limited to budget allocations, as it may have direct implications for the well-being of public sector workers and the ability to attract and retain qualified professionals.

In addition to salary discussions, another prominent topic in recent weeks has been the Government's proposal to amend rental law. The Socialist Party (PS) announced it will vote against a request for legislative authorization related to this matter and has presented an alternative project to create a public guarantee for landlords and tenants.

Tensions between the Government and the PS highlight the complexity of negotiations surrounding rental legislation, including the possibility that the Government's proposal may reach specialized committees without a vote, as mentioned by Eurico Brilhante Dias from the PS.
