Half of Cars in Spain Are Over 15 Years Old

According to a report by the Spanish Association of Automobile and Truck Manufacturers (Anfac), it has been determined that half of the vehicles in Spain are over 15 years old. This trend has intensified despite the evident increase in the rate of electrification of cars in the country, where electric vehicles barely account for 2.4% of the total vehicle fleet.

The report highlights that the average age of passenger cars on Spanish roads has reached 14.6 years. This aging of the vehicle fleet could have implications for road safety as well as the compliance with the emission reduction commitments established by the European Union.

Four autonomous communities fall below this average; however, the issue of vehicle aging remains significant at the national level, creating challenges for mobility and sustainability in the country.
