Hidden camera in school bathroom in Paraná sparks protests and dismissal of principals
Students at Colégio Cívico-Militar Érico Veríssimo in Cambé discovered a camera in the girls' bathroom, prompting demonstrations and action from the state education authority.

Students at the State Civic-Military School Érico Veríssimo, located in Cambé in northern Paraná, discovered a hidden camera in the girls' bathroom on Monday (19). A student noticed a device installed on the wall emitting a red light and examined it closely, leading to the discovery of the surveillance equipment.
The following day, Tuesday (20), students protested at the school entrance demanding answers from the administration about the camera. According to reports, the institution had not informed students or their parents about the equipment's presence, nor had it obtained signed consent authorizing footage in the bathrooms.
Alessa Gabriele, a student at the school, said she felt violated by the discovery and questioned the institution's failure to communicate about the surveillance. The device was secured by a student and later seized by the Civil Police.

On Wednesday (21), the Civil Police of Paraná and the State Department of Education conducted an inspection at the school two days after the discovery. During the visit, the equipment was formally seized by police for investigation.
Also on Wednesday, Paraná's Education Department requested the removal of the school's leadership. According to Education Secretary Roni Miranda, a resolution was signed prohibiting cameras in bathrooms or changing rooms in any area of the institution.
Reports indicated that tensions remained high at the school on Wednesday, with videos circulating on social media showing crowds of people. The Civil Police of Paraná continues investigating the installation of the camera.
