Voters across Brazil head to the polls this Sunday (October 4) for the first round of elections

Over 30 million voters will cast their ballots in various Brazilian states during the first round of elections on October 4.

This Sunday, October 4, more than 30 million voters across Brazil will head to the polls for the first round of the 2026 elections. Voters will have the opportunity to choose candidates for positions such as federal deputy, state deputy, senator, governor, and president.

In the state of Goiás, 5,081,043 voters are eligible to vote. Voting will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Brasília time, following the same schedule as other states and the Federal District.

In São Paulo, voters will also head to the polls to select candidates for federal deputy, state deputy, two Senate seats, governor, and president, with voting times remaining the same.

The state of Rio de Janeiro will have its voters deciding in the same categories, while Ceará has nearly 7 million voters participating in the election.

Voters from Paraná and Santa Catarina will also join the process, with the first round of elections occurring within the same timeframe. Citizens of Paraná will elect representatives in various positions, and Santa Catarina has 5,725,753 eligible voters.

In a parallel move, the Federal Highway Police (PRF) in Paraná plans to restrict the traffic of certain cargo vehicles on single-lane federal highways during election day.
