ICE agent shoots Dominican man in New York during operation
A Dominican man was shot by an ICE agent in the Bronx while accompanied by a five-year-old; organizations demand an investigation.

On Thursday, a Dominican man was shot by an agent from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during an operation in the Bronx, New York, according to various local media and authorities. The incident occurred around 4:00 PM in the Marble Hill neighborhood, where the man was in his vehicle with a five-year-old child.
The victim was taken to a local hospital and was reported to be conscious. According to ICE, the operation aimed to arrest an immigrant with a criminal background and connections to the Trinitarios gang. Sources indicated that the man attempted to ram the agents during the arrest, which led to the use of force.
Some organizations, such as the New York Immigration Coalition and Make the Road New York, have called for an investigation of the incident, as well as the release of videos documenting what happened. Protests were held outside the hospital where the man was admitted, denouncing ICE's actions and demanding accountability.

A federal judge has prohibited the deportation of the injured man, citing the nature of the incident and its context. At the same time, an investigation has been initiated by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the FBI to determine the circumstances of the shooting and the actions of the agents involved.
While New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has criticized ICE's use of force, the DHS responded by accusing the city of spreading misinformation and pointed out that 'sanctuary city' policies complicate federal law enforcement operations.
As the investigation progresses, the incident has triggered a wave of protests against ICE tactics and highlighted the tensions between local and federal authorities regarding immigration management in the city.
