The list of nominees for the 2026 Ballon d'Or will be unveiled on September 8. The lists will include the male and female nominations as well as those for other awards. The awards ceremony is scheduled for October 26 in London, a month and a half after the announcement of the nominations, according to L'Équipe.

Zinédine Zidane, newly appointed head coach of the French national team, will announce his first squad list on September 18 at 6 PM. This announcement will take place at the headquarters of the Fédération Française de Football (FFF). Among the new coaching staff, Fabien Barthez, goalkeeper of the 1998 World Cup champions, has been appointed as goalkeeper coach, reports franceinfo.

Zidane's first squad list is highly anticipated as the Blues prepare for four matches in the Nations League at the end of September and the beginning of October. Zidane's selections will be closely watched, especially following Didier Deschamps' departure.

L'Équipe noted that the announcement of the Ballon d'Or nominees coincides with the date of Zidane's first squad list, marking a busy month for French football. Football experts expect to see how these two events will influence the sport’s headlines, but no immediate reaction has been reported regarding the expectations around these announcements.

Football fans can look forward to an exciting announcement for both events as French football braces for a fall rich in competitions and honors.
