Indecopi approves purchase of Sky Airline by Abra Group with conditions

The competition authority in Peru, Indecopi, has approved the purchase of Sky Airline by Abra Group, the parent company of Avianca. However, the approval comes with conditions aimed at preventing restrictions on competition in the airline sector.

According to El Comercio, Indecopi concluded that the transaction would not create a significant restriction on the Lima-Miami and Cusco-Miami routes. Nevertheless, the agency mandated limitations on the scope and duration of certain non-compete and non-solicitation clauses included in the agreement between the two parties.

Infobae reports that this decision was made after a second-phase review, where the authority assessed the potential effects on competition, ensuring that the operation would not harm the flight market.
