India has made a decision to procure the Javelin anti-tank missile system from the United States. This move follows the operation named Op Sindoor, during which the procurement was finalized.

The Javelin system, known as the FGM-148, is a portable guided missile designed for use by the US Army and Marine Corps. It features an automatic guidance mechanism that allows the missile to track targets independently after launch, providing some tactical advantages to operators.

The acquisition of this system is seen as a significant boost to defense ties between India and the US. There are discussions regarding technology transfer to streamline the acquisition process and reduce bureaucratic hurdles.
