IP to invest €700 million in Alentejo by 2028 in roads and railways
Infraestruturas de Portugal has announced a €700 million investment in Alentejo by 2028 for road and railway works, as stated by the Secretary of State for Infrastructures.

Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) plans to invest a total of €700 million in Alentejo by the end of 2028. This amount will be allocated to road and rail projects, according to the Secretary of State for Infrastructures in statements to journalists.
The announcement was made during the inauguration of the new Eastern Bypass to Évora of the Primary Itinerary 2 (IP2). The Secretary of State for Infrastructures emphasized the importance of the investment in modernizing and improving infrastructure in the region.
The investment will be distributed among the three districts of Alentejo, although specific details about the locations of the works have not yet been disclosed.

The Secretary of State also referred to the positive impact these improvements could bring to mobility in the region, but did not specify quantifiable data regarding the increase in transport efficiency.
IP already has an investment plan that covers various infrastructures at the national level, and this amount is a significant part of it, with a focus on the Alentejo region.
This investment project reflects a continuous effort to boost regional development and promote accessibility, forming part of a broader approach to the infrastructural needs in Portugal.
