The Iranian economy is undergoing a deep crisis, marked by an annual inflation rate of 66% in July. Consumer prices have risen by 87.9% on a year-on-year basis, with food prices soaring to 128%. These figures illustrate the ongoing economic deterioration, according to France 24.

In this difficult context, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced economic measures that the United States describes as 'Economic D-Day' for Iran. This announcement follows the U.S.'s intention to overturn the Iranian regime, a position recently reaffirmed by Donald Trump, who stated that Iran is 'completely collapsing'.

The new sanctions are expected to be detailed in an announcement scheduled for today. The United States has outlined its intention to apply pressure on Tehran's regime through economic means, which will lead to an intensification of pressure on Iran.

In response, Tehran has warned of severe consequences for any country that supports these sanctions. The climate of tension between the two nations is only worsening, with successive statements escalating the bellicose rhetoric.

This series of events could further propel the Iranian economy into an even more severe state of crisis as the country struggles to cope with the impact of previous sanctions while preparing for new retaliatory measures.
