Iran's Revolutionary Guard stated that it fired ballistic missiles at a military base in Jordan utilized by the US armed forces. This attack is part of a broader retaliation after the US reported the destruction of five Iranian oil tankers, which Iran claims prompted its military response.

In addition to the strike in Jordan, Iran's forces targeted nearly 20 vessels in the Gulf. Reports indicate that many of these ships were attacked in the wake of the developments surrounding the seized oil tankers.

According to sources, Jordan was able to intercept most of the missiles aimed at the US base, mitigating the impact of the assault. Despite these interceptions, the escalation has raised concerns about the region's stability and the potential for further confrontations.

The conflict has also had immediate economic repercussions, as oil prices surged above $100 per barrel amid fears of extended hostilities in the Gulf. This spike in oil prices highlights the interconnectedness of military actions and global oil market reactions.

In parallel, US President Donald Trump commented on the situation, asserting that he expects the conflict with Iran to conclude immediately after the upcoming US midterm elections. He suggested that Iran was attempting to influence the electoral process but would be unable to sustain the conflict due to economic pressures.

Previously, Trump expressed reluctance to pursue negotiations with Iran, citing the breakdown of earlier ceasefires and asserting that military options remain on the table. His administration's strategy appears to focus on economic sanctions and military readiness rather than diplomatic engagement.
