Iran rejects US threat of sanctions
Iranian Foreign Minister Araqchi describes the threat of new US sanctions as a desperate measure by the US.

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has dismissed the US threat of new sanctions as a sign of desperation. In a video published on Telegram, Araqchi noted that US Treasury Secretary Steven Bessent had threatened Iran with the "harshest sanctions in history."
Araqchi commented on the recent US statements amid ongoing tensions between the two countries. Bessent is scheduled to address the press on Monday evening at 8:00 PM CEST to elaborate on these measures.
The Iranian foreign minister stated in his video that all previous actions taken by the US – including blockades and military measures – had failed. Araqchi argued that the new threat from the United States would also not be successful.

Tensions between Iran and the US have increased in recent years, particularly following the US withdrawal from the nuclear agreement in 2018. The relationship has been strained by accusations and mutual threats.
Araqchi characterized the US threat as part of ongoing aggression and emphasized that Iran fears no further sanctions. He pointed out that the Iranian people have already overcome numerous challenges in the past.
