According to reports from 'The Telegraph', Iranian hackers successfully disabled a power plant in the United Kingdom last month. This reportedly marks the first time hackers linked to the Iranian regime have carried out such an attack on an energy facility in the UK.

The British power plant was offline for four days; however, the attack never led to outages for the public. This indicates a limited impact from the cyberattack, despite the disruption.

British authorities have not disclosed which specific power plant was affected. This remains unclear, potentially related to the sensitivity of the situation and the risks to national infrastructure.

In June, the UK's cybersecurity agency warned of an increase in cyberattacks targeting critical infrastructure in the UK. The recent attack could confirm this warning, although the immediate consequences have been assessed positively due to the continuity of electricity supply.

The incidents occur at a time when global attention is focused on cybersecurity, particularly regarding infrastructure and vital services. The attack is therefore taken seriously, even though it caused no immediate damage to the power supply. This may indicate a broader trend of cyber threats.

The British government has downplayed the impact of the attack, indicating that it has the situation under control. However, this downplaying may also raise questions about the vulnerability of the energy infrastructure to future attacks.
