Italy has rejected Madrid's ultimatum to lift the border controls for individuals from Spain that were implemented in response to the recent developments in Ceuta.
According to Spain, this measure is intended to apply pressure on Italy to ease border formalities. However, Italy has emphasized that the controls will remain in place.
