Spain: Checks for Passengers Arriving from Italy
Madrid has initiated checks on travelers from Italy in response to similar measures taken by Italy.

The Spanish government has introduced checks on between 5 and 10% of passengers on flights arriving from Italy. This decision was made in response to similar measures implemented by the Italian government following large arrivals in Ceuta.
According to police sources, checks will only be carried out on those passengers who are suspected of boarding a flight from Italy but are coming from countries outside the European Union. Additionally, the reinstatement of checks also extends to maritime traffic coming from Italy.
The European Commission has emphasized the importance of focusing efforts on preventing irregular entries and senseless deaths in the current context. Border checks will be in place until September 7.
