Spain introduces border controls for travelers from Italy

Spain has introduced new border controls that went into effect at midnight for travelers coming from Italy. The Spanish government announced this measure in response to earlier controls that Italy imposed on travelers from Spain.

In the context of these new measures, the Spanish enclave Ceuta is facing a migration crisis. Thousands of migrants have attempted to reach Ceuta, leading to serious situations and dozens of fatalities.

Current estimates indicate that between 3,000 and 5,000 migrants are still present in Ceuta, while authorities are trying to regain control over the situation.
