Students in Jharkhand organized protests calling for the resignation of Chief Minister Hemant Soren. They also demanded that the Congress party withdraw its support from the ruling coalition with the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM). According to reports, the protesters are accusing the coalition of failing to address their concerns and demands adequately.

The protests have escalated, with plans announced to burn effigies of both Soren and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi across all 24 districts on Sunday. This action is part of their ongoing frustration with the government's inaction regarding alleged exam irregularities.

On Saturday, which marked the 22nd day of their indefinite strike, students conducted a 'Tiranga Yatra' to voice their dissent. They have threatened to gherao the Chief Minister's residence on August 20 as part of their protest efforts to secure their demands.

The unrest reflects a broader dissatisfaction among students regarding perceived political neglect and the handling of educational issues by the current government in Jharkhand.
