The coach of Nacional, João Gião, urged his players to approach Monday's match against Santa Clara with the 'right mentality.' Gião highlighted the importance of a competitive attitude, emphasizing the need to be prepared for the challenge ahead in the opening round of the Portuguese I Liga, which takes place in the Azores.

The match is scheduled for 8:15 PM at the Estádio de São Miguel in Ponta Delgada. This will be a significant game as it marks the official debut of the championship for the 2026/27 season.

Nacional will take the field following a preparation period focused on establishing a solid foundation for the season. Gião's message indicates that he expects a maximized collective effort from the players during the game.

Additionally, the context of the match presents an opportunity for Nacional to showcase their potential against an opponent that is also looking to start the season with a victory.

The encounter between Santa Clara and Nacional will close out the first round of the I Liga, which already features several matches taking place over the weekend. Expectations are high for this competition kickoff.
