Alexandre Santos, 49, has been officially presented as the new football coach of Nacional, a club competing in the Portuguese Primeira Liga. Santos returns to Portugal after a career focused on African leagues, where he gained experience as a coach.

The confirmation of the appointment was made by Nacional's president, Rui Alves, in statements to the Lusa agency. The president indicated that details about Santos's contract will be disclosed next Monday during the official presentation of the coach.

The coach succeeds João Gião, whose tenure with the team recently ended. Santos will be responsible for leading the club at a time when the team is seeking to improve its performance in the national competition.

Alexandre Santos has a background that includes stints in various leagues in Africa, where he had the opportunity to work with several teams. His knowledge in player management and game strategies will be essential for his new role.

Santos's first challenge as coach of Nacional will be a match against Sporting, set to take place in Alvalade, promising to be a demanding game early in his tenure at the club.

Anticipation surrounding his arrival is high, and the Nacional management is confident that Santos can bring about the necessary change in the team's performance throughout the season.
