João Lázaro appointed deputy ombudsman for Justice
The president of APAV, João Lázaro, will take on new roles in Justice starting in September, while also teaching or conducting scientific research.

João Lázaro, the current president of the Portuguese Association for Victim Support (APAV), has been appointed deputy ombudsman for Justice. The decision was formalized through an order signed by the ombudsman and published in the Diário da República.
Lázaro will assume his new duties starting September 7. The order reveals that the new deputy ombudsman may combine these roles with teaching or scientific research activities, as long as he is not compensated for these additional activities.
This appointment comes in the context of Lázaro's role at the helm of APAV, where he played a significant part in defending the rights of victims in Portugal.

The order formalizing Lázaro's appointment indicates the responsibilities he will undertake in his new position within the Justice structure.
The deputy ombudsman role aims to support the ombudsman in various competencies, including overseeing issues related to human rights and social justice.
João Lázaro's appointment and his future responsibilities are seen as a continuation of his work at APAV, now on a new institutional platform.
