Rebeca and Laura, former employees of Julio Iglesias, have filed a complaint against the singer with the National Court. The plaintiffs seek a Spanish court to investigate their allegations of labor exploitation and sexual violence, dating back to 2021.

The women stated that Iglesias exploited his position of power and the vulnerability of the complainants to relocate them and house them in his properties located in Punta Cana and Lyford Cay. Reports suggest that these situations led to behaviors considered sexual assaults.

The complaint was filed on September 3 with the Instruction Section of the Central Court of Instance. The case had previously been shelved by prosecutors, but the women decided to escalate it to higher levels of the Spanish judiciary.

The origin of the complaint is based on work experiences the women described as abusive, in a context where they allege they were subjected to violence by the artist.

The complainants had previously made their allegations public, drawing attention to the treatment of sexual assault cases in the workplace, especially in positions where disproportionate influence can be exerted.

The case continues to develop in the Spanish judicial system, with hopes that a court may review the allegations again and provide justice to the plaintiffs.
