Kane and Putellas win Ballon d'Or awards
At a gala in London, Harry Kane of FC Bayern won the men's Ballon d'Or while Barcelona's Alexia Putellas claimed the women's prize for a third time.

Harry Kane has been awarded the Ballon d'Or at the prize ceremony in London. The 33-year-old English team captain from FC Bayern Munich prevailed against Kylian Mbappé and Lamine Yamal. According to the organiser of the awards, voting between Kane and second-placed Mbappé was close.
With this award, Kane is the first Bundesliga player since Matthias Sammer in 1996 to receive the honour. In the past season, Kane scored 73 goals for Bayern Munich and the English national team.
In the women's category, Alexia Putellas of FC Barcelona won the Ballon d'Or Féminin for the third time. The Spanish player capped an outstanding season. Putellas had endured difficult periods due to injury but demonstrated her world-class quality.

Putellas' victory comes at a time when FC Barcelona dominates women's football. Last year, according to reports, there was no getting past the player at the Catalan club.
Alongside the two main awards, Luis de la Fuente was named best coach. The Spanish trainer is being honoured for his work.
The Ballon d'Or is considered one of football's most prestigious honours and is awarded for outstanding individual performances in professional football.
