Bayern Munich reported that coach Vincent Kompany collapsed on the training pitch on Friday. He was taken to hospital, where he is described as stable. The club stated that he will be sidelined for an extended period as he continues treatment for a virus.

Bayern's expectation is that Kompany will be absent for weeks rather than days, according to the club's director. The timeframe marks a significant disruption to the club's coaching arrangements during the season.

In other football developments, Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho commented on comparisons between his team and Barcelona ahead of Sunday's La Liga Clasico. Mourinho said it was unfair to draw such comparisons, noting that he has been in his position for only a few months while Barcelona's coach Hansi Flick arrived at that club in 2024.

Manchester City face Aston Villa in a Premier League match on Saturday with a perfect record so far this season. The match takes place at Villa Park, with Manchester City looking to maintain their unbeaten start while Villa seek to climb the table.

Aston Villa and Manchester City previously met in May to finish the previous season. The fixture is scheduled for 12.30pm BST on Saturday.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca addressed the omission of Phil Foden from the squad, noting that the club has many games to play and multiple players to choose from, with the priority being to keep players fresh and fit.
