Lilli Tagger loses in US Open warm-up in Monterrey
18-year-old Lilli Tagger lost her warm-up match for the US Open at the WTA 500 tournament in Monterrey.

Lilli Tagger lost her first match in Monterrey on Sunday during the warm-up for the US Open. The 18-year-old from East Tyrol was defeated in the first round by Ukrainian player Julia Starodubzewa. The match concluded after 1 hour and 41 minutes with a score of 3-6, 4-6.
Currently ranked 48th in the world, Tagger is set to participate in the upcoming US Open, thus securing her spot in the main draw. Her early exit in Monterrey contrasts with the expectations placed on the young player.

However, there was good news for Austrian player Julia Grabher. She has avoided the qualification round for the US Open and has secured direct entry into the main draw in New York. Grabher is expected to be part of a larger Austrian contingent.
In total, at least five Austrian players, along with four qualifiers from the Austrian Tennis Association (ÖTV), will be represented at the US Open. The event begins next Sunday.
