Low Water Levels on the Danube in Hungary Disrupt River Cruises and Intensify Nuclear Debate

The prolonged low water levels of the Danube have led to significant disruptions in river cruise traffic in Hungary. Hotel ships are unable to continue their routes, resulting in passengers having to switch vessels. Unusual phenomena are also being observed in Budapest, caused by the record low levels of the river.

Additionally, the low water levels are impacting the country's nuclear debate. According to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, the Hungarian nuclear power plant Paks had to be partially shut down due to heat-related issues. As a result, the dispute over nuclear power has flared up again, with Prime Minister Magyar accusing his predecessor of negligence.
