Luciano Valente appointed new captain of Feyenoord
Feyenoord has appointed Luciano Valente as the new captain for this season, taking over from the departed Timon Wellenreuther.

Luciano Valente has officially been appointed as the new captain of Feyenoord, the club announced. The 22-year-old midfielder takes over the captain's armband from Timon Wellenreuther, who transferred to VfL Wolfsburg this summer.
During his first press conference as captain, which took place after Feyenoord's 1-0 victory over Sparta Rotterdam, Valente spoke enthusiastically about his new role. He expressed his desire to become a pivotal player for the team and remarked that he feels honored to wear the armband.
Feyenoord started the new Eredivisie season with a narrow win against Sparta. Valente, who made an immediate impact, scored the only goal of the match, securing the victory for his team.
Coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst showed confidence in Valente's abilities as a captain, especially given the fact that the midfielder could be crucial for the team's development this season.
After the match, Valente appeared visibly relieved and happy. He noted that wearing the captain's armband gave him goosebumps but also emphasized that he does not stand above the team and that collaboration remains key.
Valente's appointment and his performance in the season opener are seen as a promising start for both him personally and for Feyenoord as a team. The club hopes that he can utilize his leadership skills in the upcoming competitive matches.
