Luís Montenegro, Prime Minister of Portugal, will communicate with the nation tonight at 8 PM. The statement, which will take place at the official residence in São Bento, will address the current housing crisis, a topic that has generated public concern and debate in recent weeks. Montenegro emphasized that the interest in housing is understandable but refrained from previewing details of his speech.

Montenegro's statement comes amid intensifying protests across the country, driven by growing dissatisfaction with the housing situation. During this period, various groups have been calling for solutions from the government, while opposition leaders have criticized its approach so far.

José Luís Carneiro, leader of the Socialist Party (PS), will also respond to Montenegro's communication after it takes place. Carneiro has shown solidarity with the protesters and has directed criticism towards the government, urging concrete actions to resolve the housing crisis.

In addition to the public statement, a meeting is scheduled between Luís Montenegro and the leaders of PS and Chega, José Luís Carneiro and André Ventura, respectively. This meeting, which will occur the same day, aims to discuss the housing crisis and seek consensus on possible solutions.

Reports indicate that the two largest opposition parties, PS and Chega, have a set of proposals to present to the Prime Minister. Among the measures discussed are the elimination of unlimited deposits, advance rents, and exemptions on capital gains for homes sold for up to 300,000 euros for housing purposes.

In previous meetings, there has been a clear intention to dialogue, but there have been no reported conclusive agreements to date. The discussions remain a focal point on the political stage, reflecting the urgency and complexity of the housing situation in Portugal.
