Lying in state and state funeral for Emma Bonino at Campidoglio
The lying in state is open at the Protomoteca, with the funeral scheduled for Tuesday in a secular form.

Emma Bonino's lying in state was inaugurated today, Sunday, September 13, in the Sala della Protomoteca at the Campidoglio in Rome. Citizens can pay their respects to the radical leader until 7 PM this evening and tomorrow from 10 AM to 7 PM. A European Union flag has been placed on the coffin alongside a black-and-white photo.
Numerous political figures, along with family members, welcomed the deceased in the presence of an honor guard. People formed long lines outside the Campidoglio to enter and participate in the ceremony. According to some sources, hundreds of citizens have already gathered to bid farewell to Bonino.
On Tuesday, September 15, state funerals in a secular form will take place, again at the Protomoteca, starting at 12:30 PM. Various high institutional officials will be present, including President Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

During the lying in state, a civic vigil will also take place today at 7 PM, allowing political and civil society figures to pay tribute to Bonino, who passed away on September 11 at the age of 78. The state funeral will be broadcast live on television.
The funeral ceremony will also feature speeches from prominent political figures who will remember Bonino's impact and legacy. Rome's Mayor Roberto Gualtieri described the radical leader as a fighter for freedom and justice in Italy.
Her coffin was received with great care and respect. The presence of citizens and representatives of institutions marks a significant moment in the collective memory of the country and in the history of Italian civil battles.
