French President Emmanuel Macron has rejected the resignation of Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez in the context of a wave of unrest and violence in several cities across the country. Macron's decision came after a weekend marked by looting and theft, with 2,397 arrests reported and 997 police officers injured in various clashes with demonstrators.

According to media reports, the minister had offered his resignation due to the current crisis, taking responsibility for the violent events. However, Macron urged him to take a stronger approach in managing security forces, emphasizing the importance of maintaining continuous command during the crisis.

Additionally, the Prime Minister announced that partial curfews will be imposed in some cities to prevent further unrest. Macron urged the Interior Minister to deploy new methods of police intervention against violent groups, which have called for protests in response to the situation.

The violence intensified on Saturday, with attacks on businesses and public buildings, leading the political opposition to criticize the government's response to the unrest. Macron, for his part, has accused far-left groups of being responsible for the chaos and promised firm measures against those accountable.

It was mentioned that the Interior Minister, Lecornu, also expressed support for declaring a state of emergency if the situation requires it, suggesting that decisive action is needed in the face of escalating violence.

The protests have attracted national and international attention, with the date of a new demonstration already on the horizon, scheduled for next Saturday, which could further exacerbate tensions in the country.
