The Community of Madrid has announced that it will not participate in the Fiscal Policy Council scheduled for this Friday. The Madrid government has urged other autonomous communities governed by the People's Party to follow its example and not attend the meeting with the Ministry of Finance.

This move is based on the warning that a lack of quorum could prevent a meaningful agreement from being reached. Madrid representatives argue that this strategy is a way to pressure the central government on issues of regional financing.

In response to this decision, the Ministry of Finance accused Madrid of "institutional hooliganism" and attempting to "boycott" the Council. Ministry sources indicated that until now, all other autonomous communities had confirmed their attendance at the meeting.

The operational rules of the Council stipulate that the presence of at least half of the participants is required for votes to be considered valid, which makes Madrid's boycott strategy create uncertainty about the development of discussions.
